The NFL is changing the world?

Good article by Michael Rosenberg in SI.com (see link below). The almost instant backlash against BACKUP 49ers cornerback Chris Culliver is a promising sign that society and the media are setting up a new line regarding anti-homosexual rhetoric that can no longer be crossed. The NFL has long been known as the most homophobic of professional sports leagues. While most NFL players may mirror Mr. Culliver's ignorant views, they can't say it in public anymore. Just as 40 years ago (or less) you could not want a BLACK athlete on your team but you couldn't say it in public. Look where that change in social perception has taken the Chris Cullivers of the world. I find it appalling that black athletes and many black people cannot see the parallels between the prejudice against the homosexual community and the same prejudice the black community suffered from (and still does suffer from) for the last, oh let's say 300 years. The NFL Rookie Symposium should probably include a lecture on tolerance as well. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/nfl/news/20130131/chris-culliver-tim-hardaway-gay-teammate/?sct=uk_t12_a5
